Conservatives clinch 8th successive elctoral victory!
The Conservative and Imperialist Party, who have been in Government for now over 30 years, narrowly retained their hold on power following a make or break election.
The party was left realing from its hayday in 573, when it achieved 42% of the vote, having slipped to barely 30% in the 580 elections. The then Prime Minister, Andy Coulson, left office with his poll ratings shattered following his strong actions taken during the war and many expected his successor, David Davis, to simply be a fall-man. However Davis surprised everyone by not only maintaining a coherent and effecitve minority government but also by leading his party to their 8th consecutive election victory.
The Conservatives gained an extra 8 seats in the election while their main ideological opponents, the Nationalist Party, lost almost half their seats. Now bolstered by a strong electoral success Davis has managed to secure a Confidence and Supply deal with the Liberal Party which will ensure the Government is at least able to pass their budget and key pieces of legislation.
Many remain to be convinced that Davis can lead a minority Government for a full 4 years given the strong performance of Labour and the Social Democrats, who have formed the official opposition. However if one thing is clear, Davis is not a man to be underestimated.
