"The Imperial Coast Guard currently sits teetering on the edge of a precarious precipice: should it lean one way it would stay a completely militarized force serving only half of the potential that is open to us, or lean the other and embrace all that it can do for the protection and service of the Falleen people. In its current state the Imperial Coast Guard only has two missions: to provide coastal defense in times of war and to be the Empire's maritime law enforcement. Day in and day out our Coast Guardsman take to the sea to complete their missions, however, our Guardians are growing discontent with the way of things. They see situations where they would fit perfectly into, such as maritime search and rescue and ice breaking operations, and wish they could actively take up the reigns and lead those operations. As such the administrative staff of the Imperial Coast Guard has set forth this proposal: to expand the missions of the Imperial Coast Guard to include Maritime Search and Rescue, Ice Operations, and Marine Safety. With the inclusion of these missions the Imperial Coast Guard may continue to live up to its motto and be always be Semper Paratus."
